For those EVPers who believe in the non-acoustic model of EVP, e.g., "the spirit impresses the information directly on the tape or recording device", my question is why do you use microphones at all then?
For those EVPers who believe in the acoustic model of EVP, e.g., a spirit speaks audible words despite not having vocal chords, how is it possible that the recording device can pick up the sound while the human ear cannot? This especially goes out to those who claim to have Class A EVPs where the supposed ghost voice has a volume nearly as loud as those of the ghost hunters making the recording.

What do you mean, nuff? What is the "energy" behind EVPs -- is it mechanical energy of sound waves detectable by microphones, or electromagnetic energy that microphones do not pick up? Or something else, and how is it detected? Do you use a microphone, why or why not?

Kudos to those who have responded. It's disappointing that many of our resident paranormal enthusiasts can talk it up except when the hard questions are thrown at them. Anybody else willing to step up?
