After my uncle died 4 years ago, I would write him medium sized letters. In my sleep he would reply to them. I never told anyone. I thought it was just a dream. Then about 5 months ago on Oprah they did a special on EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) & talking with the dead. I was like "OMG! I'm not crazy!" and I googled it and listened to people's EVPs. So I set up a recorder infront of my dad's um. I replayed the tape and forwards it read, "I tried to get up." Backwards it reads, "I love you, pumpkin." AND IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM! Then about 2 months ago I made a darkroom downstairs in a room in our basement. I had to move my Grandpa's fishing gear. Well, the next day I go down there the fishing stuff had been moved to the original spot. My mom never goes into that room. She only goes downstairs to do the laundry. I set up my recorder and sure enough my grandpa left a message calling out my mom's name over and over again. Has anyone else ever encountered EVP or stuff?

Very very cool. Keep that tape recorder running. I don't know if I buy the playing of the tape backwards bit, but he was obviously trying to tell you that he didn't give up on life and had tried to get up and live again, but could not. I envy you the clear messages, I am thinking of trying to get a few of my own. I have two tapes from long ago that have EVP's on them, but they were recorded bu accident. Voices just showed up on a tape recording. The house was haunted anyway. I might give it a try soon. My girls are scaredy cats and would not stop clinging to my side if I recorded voices (successfully) in our present dwelling.

You're not psychotic. If you really captured these EVPs make sure you are not trying to form words where there are none and dealing with false memories as to what the voices sound like. It is what it is, any way you cut it. No amount of denial or convincing yourself changes what it actually is.

purnimacresent, that isn't true at all. Normal every day recorders are used to record EVP. No high tech equipment needed.
To answer the actual question, yes. We have recorded a lot of EVP and "stuff".

:)

Usually EVP's are done with high tech equipment, not just normal tape recorders we have at home, that being said-Spirits of our loved ones will go all out to show us they are okay and still around-Savour your blessed messages :)

EVP is an abbreviation for auditory pareidolia.
