Sometimes the skinny earth worms are still "wiggling" just a bit. They are found about 5 feet from the sliding glass door. Right in the middle of the living area on the carpet. The place is only a few years old, and the seal around the sliding door looks fine. How in the world are these getting in? I wonder if we are draggin them in on our shoes or clothes and then they drop onto the floor when we get inside. BUT the only place we ever see them is in the living room. Someone suggested salt by the door to detract them. So gross. I hate worms.

I read somewhere that clocks on top of sky scrappers experience a deviation from those on the ground, due to less gravity effecting space/time.

Is this true? Is time faster or slower in the absence of gravity?

I was watching Lara Croft Tomb Raider, and I have heard of something to the effect that at some point in our lifetime (other yahoo answer people are saying 12/21/12) that the planets will align. When I asked this question a few days ago, everyone said the palnets will never be in exact alignment. So my question is if the Tomb Raider movie is at all accurate, what do astronomers mean when they say that there will be a planetary alignment in December of 2012? Does this mean that all 9 (or 8) planets will be in perfect alignment if only for a few seconds causing a total eclipse, or does it simply mean that only the inner or outer planets will align with the Earth's orbit? I'm just curious. Thanks.

My son is learning signed numbers at school. It's been years since I've done this! Can someone please help explain this to me so I can better help him?

Here is an example problem:

3²(-4)²/-1

Following the order of operations you would solve for 3² and (-4)² giving you 9 and -16.

Then you'd multiply 9 by 16 giving you -144.

The problem would then be -144/-1 and the end result would be +144. Right?

I was wrong. The correct answer [according to the book] is +5. Please help me figure this out! I just don't understand anymore!! Haha.

Thanks!

For an enteric bacterium, would it be possible to track the movements of the bacterium within the living host, without detrimental effects to the host?

This has been done with mice and Salmonella before: does anyone have a reference for this?

Could you label the bacteria with something that could be tracked through the host?

A student weighs an empty flask, aluminum foil, and copper wire and finds the mass to be 54.8680g. She then adds about 5.0mL of an unknown liquid and heats the flask in a boiling water bath to 99.0°C. After all the liquid is vaporized, she removes the flask from the bath and weighs it after it has cooled. The weight of the flask, foil, wire, and unknown liquid was found to be 55.8020g. The volume of the flask is 242.5mL and barometric pressure was 747.0mm Hg (Torr).

What was the pressure of the vapor in the flask in atm?
I have 0.9829 atm

What was the temperature of the vapor in K? the volume of the flask in liters?
I have 372.15K and 0.2425L

What was the mass of the vapor that was present in the flask?
I have 0.9340g

What is the mass of one mole of vapor?
I have 119.2g/mol

Also if all of the unknown liquid has not fully vaporized, would the result for the molar mass be higher, lower, or the same as a properly done experiment?
I said it would be the same.

The giants causeway is a rare wonder

People say it took millions of years of natural erosion of basalt rock and the general cooling of volcanoic lava

The rock formations are helixical and parallel and dead vertical in places

what do you guys think, is this the hand of man, or even giant men as the name would suggest or do you think it's the result of millions of years

well this is my answer, the rocks are made of repeating units, almost brickwork in natrue, areas show sheer vertical flat and parallel layers, if this is due to millions of years then so was mount rushmore.

The question is, if it did not take millions of years, then who built it?
