Can someone explain to me how to determine the significant figures? And how to determine the sig. figs. in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I know that the rule for determining the sig. figs. is different in adding and subtracting than it is for multiplying and dividing, but can someone explain the method please.

Thank You.

I am investing in stocks and i am trying to make a somewhat orginized paper with many details about the stock. I was wondering what i would have to do to find out how much a stock has grown (percentage wise) over a 52-week period. I will use GOOG as an example, 52 weeks ago it was at 400.25 and now it is at 567.5, how would I find out how much the stock has grown(percentage wise)? ex. it has grown 15% over the past year. that sort of form

probability questions: A bridge hand consists of 13 randomly chosen cards from 52. What's the probability that a bridge hand consists of 4 clubs, 4 diamonds, 3 spades, and 2 hearts?

i got (13 choose 4)(13 choose 4)(13 choose 3)(13 choose 2) all divided by (52 choose 4). which i got to equal 1.795%. Not sure if that is right.

If a bridge hand consists of 4 clubs, 4 diamonds, 3 spades, and 2 hearts. Whats the prob. that they happen to fall in this order?

I was thinking (13 C 4) / (52 C 4) times (13 C 4) / (52 C 4) times (13 C 3) / (52 C 4) times (13 C 2) / (52 C 4). I dont think i did this right at all, but i could be wrong.

Thanks a lot for any help or suggestions.

The present dimensions of the candy bar are 15 cm in length, 6 cm in width, and 2 cm in thickness. The CEO has asked your consulting firm to come up with the best way to shrink the candy bar. Because millions of dollars are riding on this decision you will need to find all answers in centimeters correct to three decimal places.

6. Consider reducing two (but not three) of the dimensions by the same number of cm. What would the new dimensions be in each case? (There are three possibilities; in each case you want the volume to be 15% less than the original volume. (i.e., you want it to have the volume found of 153.)

7. Consider reducing all three dimensions by the same number of cm. What would the new dimensions be? (Once again, you want the volume to be 153.)
