I know that these are relatively easy questions, but I'm having some difficulty with them.

How much work does the electric field do in moving a proton from a point with a potential of +1.30E2 V to a point where it is -25 V? Express your answer both in joules and electron volts.

How much kinetic energy will an electron gain (in joules and eV) if it accelerates through a potential difference of 2.2E4 V in a TV picture tube?

for the first one i've tried using the equation PEb-PEa=-Wba, and i'm not getting the right answer.

the second one im not really sure how to work it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

we know that the inner shell can only hold 2 electrons and an outer or secondry shell can only hold up to eight electrons- does this mean that an atom of thorium has 11 outer shells?
and please before the dissinterested souls come back with silly quips - I am trying to learn!

I have two chem problems that I just cannot figure out. They are on Ideal Gas Law problems.
Please provide with me work (so i can see how to do it) and an answer.

1) 4.5g of magnesium is reacted with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas and a solution of magnesium chloride. What volume of gas would be produced at 2.5 atm and -8 degrees Celsius? PH20=2.5 mm Hg at -8 degrees Celsius

2) The density of a gas at room temperature (21 degrees Celcius) is 2.44 g/L. If the pressure of the gas is 0.178 atm what is the MM of the gas? (HINT: Does the density of a gas change based on the size of the sample?)

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
