I presume that you are referring to the "Gaia Hypothysis" as expounded by the earth scientist James Lovelock. He is the author of " The GaiaTheory ", and " The Ages of Gaia ", which consider the entire planet Earth (crust, oceans, atmosphere, biosphere, ecosystems, etc) as an internally-regulated living "being".

You should buy these books and read up on it. Alternatively, check out:

His arguments are highly compelling!

Yes. Gaia is also the name of the only part of the world in which life can survive. If you look at the world from space, it is the atmosphere up to a certain height and below ground to a certain level. The ball of rock etc which is the earth only has that small section where we and life could survive. All in all, it is not a big place, is it?!

Does God exist? Same difference. Both are creations of the human mind. They exist if you believe they do. Period.
