Consider a pt in the first quadrant and on the parabola y=4-x^2. If we draw a tangent at this point, the tangent , x axis and y axis form a triangle. Find the coordinates of the point on the curve so that the area of this triangle is 6.5 units.

(I got 1/13, Im not sure though. And they say the other answer is 2705/676. I dont know how to get it)

I love geniuses going against each other's beliefs....

Einstein vs. Bohr...

The relativists vs. the quantum physicists...

Unfortunately I'm with both ends of the line...

Personally, I would go with whatever Einstein say..I especially like his deterministic view of the universe but the quantum physicists really have strong points in their quantum theory....

After Einstein's death, I don't know what had happened with their disputes...did Bohr retracted his claims? probably not because there wouldn't be any quantum mechanics if he did....

Which isn't to say all creationists fall into this category, but the ones who rant here seem to. They don't understand the science; they further don't seem to understand the religion either. The "conflict" between religion and evolution is a false one that came about for a variety of socio-political reasons. I know some southern baptist preachers who believe in evolution, and likewise most evolutionary biologists I've met are Christians who attend church regularly. There IS NO CONFLICT. Evolution doesn't reject God anymore than the theory of gravity rejects Him as opposed to having people believe that God personally keeps us all from falling off the planet. Rather, all science, including evolution, illuminates the mechanism by which God chose to effect creation, and makes the creation that much more amazing in the process. Anyone who tells you Christianity and evolution have to be opposed to each other is a complete nutjob.

Hi all, I was hoping you could help me solve this question. I’m 19 years old and recently had another growth spurt 8 months ago in my knees where I grew an inch in a week and have grown 3 more inches since, but during it I was eating a lot of soy bread, and I was wondering if the phytoestrogens in the soy bread might have caused the growth spurt leading to a premature closure of the growth plates in my knees and thus stunting my growth, or if I was just genetically programmed to have a late growth spurt at this age?
I ask this because I read up that estrogen and testosterone convert to estradiol, which is the hormone responsible for the growth plates in our bones closing and I was unsure if the phytoestrogens in the soy bread I was eating could do the same thing which might explain my sudden growth spurt, much in the same way that taking steroids can produce a sudden growth spurt but lead to premature closure of the growth plates due to rapid conversion of testosterone into estradiol

My sis walks to skewl (15 min walk in winter) & I work (5 min walk) but @ work sometimes they don't make it in to work due to bad weather. I think this one lady doesn't go just cuz it snows :s
It's been a nice winter up here where we live but in the past wk there have been 3 snow days in a row for my sis. So she went home. I don't think that there's any given yr when the weather's too bad to go to skewl. (At my work they take a lot of factors in to consideration: wind chill, amount of snow, etc)

Anyone know ? Are there any weathermen/women on here ? :P

A guy walks into a 7-11 store and selects four items to buy. The clerk at the counter informs the gentleman that the total cost of the four items is $7.11. He was completely surprised that the cost was the same as the name of the store. The clerk informed the man that he simply multiplied the cost of each item and arrived at the total. The customer calmly informed the clerk that the items should be added and not multiplied. The clerk then added the items together and informed the customer that the total was still exactly $7.11.

What are the exact costs of each item?
