In geographical terms, Britain has the windiest coastal waters in Europe, and yet comes way down the rankings when it comes to producing wind-generated electricity.

What reasons are given for the UK's lack of investment and development of off-shore Wind Farms?

I have just returned from from a break in Bulgaria where we spent some time in a small town on the coast.

It was a pleasure to walk down the street and find kids entertaining themselves without swearing, smoking, drinking, or vandalising property. Indeed they were both polite and respectful to both their parents and strangers as well as funny and pleasent to talk to.

This contrasts to the day we got back when I returned to my home in Britian to find one kid booting a football against the side of my house damaging the outside wiring, and another throwing rocks against the garden gate for no reason.

I actually live in a fairly decent area as well so is this just the way British society is going?

I don't want to tar all Biritish kids with the same brush, but does this country have any future?

For the record I am 27 and not a boring old fogey.

Is the image of the UK going to be portrayed as a country that tries too hard to cover up things in our our culture/ herritage/ traditions so that our country does not offend others. The government is responsible, and they are offending me!

Why was it proposed that christmas lights should now be called festival lights? We should not turn our beliefs into taboos. Who are we offending?

I would like to know if people are truly offended by the traditions of Christmas (and anything else) ... as i would like to think it is all just media hype.

When people travel the world Eg: go to Thailand, Egypt, Japan, China they go there to see, experience and embrace their cultures including religious/local festivals, food, drink...also we learn what is socially unacceptable - how to behave without offending them by the way we dress and the body language we use.

I would be gutted if i went to Thailand and was not able to enjoy their culture.

Bush was after WMD an excuse to attack, now it is clear to the entire world that there is no trace of wmd. Why should US be present militarily instead of assisting iraqis to live as they like.

I have seen a number of beggars - mostly young men- who sit sporting better trainers than I've got! Ive also seen them with mp3 players and most of them can afford to smoke....where do they get the money from? Surely they dont make that much begging and if they do, then why are they still homeless?
Do you think beggars who cover their legs with blankets are hiding their trainers for more pity?

smoking costs the NHS in scotland £140 million a year.
21% of people smoke in scotland (about 1'500'000 people) This means
If the 21% all smoke an average of 10 cigarettes a day which would cost them about £2.20- they are paying £1.50 of this as tax - then they will be paying £2'250'000 a DAY to the government- the majority of which goes straight to NHS funding. This means that the government is making almost 9 BILLION pounds a year from smokers in Scotland......dont you think they are paying their own health costs as well as contributing to others?????????

IAEA: U.S. report on Iran 'dishonest' By GEORGE JAHN, Associated Press Writer
28 minutes ago

VIENNA, Austria - A recent House of Representatives committee report on Iran's nuclear capability is "outrageous and dishonest" in trying to make a case that Tehran's program is geared toward making weapons, a senior official of the U.N. nuclear watchdog has said.

The letter, obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday outside a 35-nation board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency, says the report is false in saying Iran is making weapons-grade uranium at an experimental enrichment site, when it has in fact produced material only in small quantities that is far below the level that can be used in nuclear arms.

Bush is lying about Iran too! How can you support this person? He is off the deep end!

Nagasaki and Hiroshima were nuked by the U.S, which killed and injured hundreds of thousands more civilians than any other military targets in history. The U.S had also invaded Iraq for the wrong reasons and resulted in numerous innocent civilian deaths.

I have followed Californias Senators to see what they are going to do about Border Security and I have emailed them many times to try and get them to vote for the people and not for special interest and with Feinstein it is the wine makers she will do anything to make sure the wine makers have their grape pickers including letting illegal aliens cross the border and if we put up a fence it will make it more difficult for them to get here. Senator Boxer is voting the same way and after saying the take Border Security seriously they are voting against all efforts to tighten up our Border. What they don't understand is if we contol the immigrants that come into our country we will be able to have enough to do the work that is needed and we will not allow to many into our country and this will allow us to balance our budgets once again it is about responsible government!Vote for the best Candidate and vote the incumbent out!!! Feinstein and Boxer and their special interest must go! SAY NO!

As a both black and southern girl, to me it's a very gray subject. So for me it depends on the context-who's using the flag and WHY they're using the flag; it's not always a racial thing. It's a very gray area with a complex history and the flag means many different things to many different people.

Like if it's two klansmen that can barely spell "civil war" driving in circles on my front lawn spraying mud on my house waving the stars and bars, then you definitely know that's BAD usage of the flag.

In my History of the Americas class, we've recently been discussing Dependency Theory, which seems to be valid given the information I've seen. However, I have read that the recent economic development in India and other East Asian countries has disproved the dependency theory. Is this true? How do dependency theorists view this?

Each of the earth's 6.5 billion people can fit in Texas and have an 1,122 sq feet per head. So a family of 4 can have a 4,500 square foot place. Since this is true, the rest of the earth's surface can be easily exploited to feed up. So what's the big deal?

Here's the math:

TX square miles of land = 261,797 from http://www.texasalmanac.com/environment/

Sq Feet in a square mile = 27,878,400 (5280*5280)

In total that is 7,298,481,484,800 square feet

divided into 6.5 billion = 1,122.84 square feet per person on earth.

The math works ... we can all live comfortably in Texas ... so what's this crap about environmental overload?
