I used to walk pass a beggar on my way to work. Always gave him money because he had a dog! Yes i'm a dog person. So would give him money daily and at the week end give him a pack of treats for his dog. I felt so sorry for them! Then one day i went shopping in Edinburgh. I entered a designer shop (My son's birthday) And saw this couple walking about, carrying stacks of shopping bags from the shop. He looked vaguely familiar if i couldn't remember where i had seen him before.
Months later, someone i knew sold her house. She told me about the new buyers. A young couple, guy didn't seem to have a job as such but hey! He was that rich ... He'd bought her house cash! I was with her when she started to pack and new buyers turned up to take measures for new blinds/carpets etc. Guess who they were? The beggar! And his girlfriend. They'd brought their dog with them. The guy knew me right away, just as he knew i knew him too. Nothing was said but since then ... I keep doggy treats for my own dogs and do not give beggars anymore money!

How do u know they are homeless? And pennyless? They could be high flyers on holiday, just begging to see how much they would get. It may be some experiment you just dont know these days.
it wouldn't take long to become smelly, just a few days and as for clothes wear them often enough without washing them and there u have it.
I don't pay beggars anyway whatever their state.

there are a lot of beggars on the street who are considered to be professional beggars. this means that they actually do not need to beg for food etc... they do it to get money and at the end of the day they go home to their very nice house with their very nice family and share the spoils. If you want to help people that genuinely need help then do not give money to people on the street give money to registered charities and shelters. It's only then that your money will be helping the people that need it.

Many beggars are genuine, but in London a lot know that in the right places you can get £500 a day from begging. At the end of that day they get up, go back to their Aston Martin, and drive home.

About 12 years ago before the flood of eastern european gypsies arrived, there was a bosnian woman on the tube equipped with a doped baby and a grubby note explaining her plight. On the journey between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road (about 2 minutes) she collected £8. Of course, she probably had to give that to her gang master and steal everything she wanted until The City of Westminster or The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea were obliged to give her the money to rent a flat in one of their leafy streets.

This is the money you and I give them, and many other fools. Some panhandlers afford drugs too and many other things they do not display. Actually I walk everyday by a young man with a pure breed dog and he must be making enough money since they both there everyday I am going to work. They sign off earlier than me b/c they are gone before I end my workday.

they get so much money from sitting on their **** on the pavement all day that they're rich. i dunno, thats just a conpiracy. I saw a beggar in the city a coupl of months back with a better phone then i have. They're probably not really homeless, they're just too lazy to go out and get a real job.
Which is sad because there are real homeless people out there who are being disadvantaged by the lazy scam artists out there.

sometimes they are dontated to shelters, sometimes they may be stolen, sometimes they are given clothing allowances from various funds, they are allowed to smoke etc (don;t forget big issue sellers actually earn an income), if nowhere to live bad enoutgh are we saying they shoudln't have decent shoews and clotheres and a little pleasure vice (ciggies)? If they had nowt on their feet they would get pnsuemonia, TB, etc, it's about prevention. There are good in bad in all people in society, who knows why they there, and for how long, or whether they are conning, either way it is sad to be in that position or sad to exploit people in that posiuton for own purposes
Always donate good clothes etc to homeless shelters or charity shops, just cos people got no money don;t mean they have to look terrible darlin......

There is one where I live (unfortunately we seem over-run with them) but he does his begging next to the taxi stand and gets a taxi home when his day finishes.
