It is common in the US to label anyone who voices his/her opinion against Israel as an anti-Semitist, a racist, a bigot, a Nazi, or even worse, a Muslim. But what if the person speaking happens to be a Jew?
Jews against the Occupation believes that America has to stop spending tax dollars so that Israel may illegally occupy Palestinian territory. Rabbis for Human Rights say that the Palestinians deserve to be treated with humanity. Courage to Refuse is composed of Israeli soldiers who refuse to serve in the occupied territories. “We, whose eyes have seen the bloody toll this Occupation exacts from both sides, shall not continue to fight beyond the 1967 borders in order to dominate, expel, starve and humiliate an entire people,” they say.
All these Jews understand that the Territories are not part of Israel and that the illegal Jewish settlements need to be evacuated. Yet, here and in Israel, these Jews are labeled traitors to either their religion or their country.
