Just heard that Mr. Stagg is to get at least £250,000 in compensation for his hardship in 1992 after being charged for the murder of Rachel Nickell. The police were forced to look for likely suspects, and in Colin Stagg they found a man who ideally suited the tabloid agenda. But as time went on, Both Stagg and the Nickell family were suffering.
Today, we were told the taxpayers (with that word spoken almost in capital letters by the newsreader) will be paying for part of Mr. Staggs' eventual amount...and why not - from day one he has been labelled a pariah, but it seems it'll never end, no matter how much money he receives.
