I worked as a newspaper reporter for four years and it was very heart wrenching. It's not easy to tell the news and appear emotionless. It's true that they are trained professionals so just like you would not tell a judge in open court that you would like him or her to kiss your rear, its the same way you exercise self control until you are behind the scenes. In the newsroom, colleagues would talk about their feelings and just let it all out, but at the end of the day, somebody has to do the job. We are not coldhearted at all, but after being in journalism for a while the news loses its shock value. We do cry and let it out to our husbands/wives when we get home, just like you do.

For one, they probably get the news stories ahead of time so they're not as shocked by what they're reading. Another reason is that they are trained to not freak out on camera. I remember seeing Walter Cronkite becoming emotional when he announced that JFK was killed (I saw the footage, I wasn't alive in 1963). During 9/11, the newscasters were also shocked and emotional at the images of the planes hitting the towers live. It affects them but they have to remain composed.

I haven't watched much TV news at all, in like 20 years. It's shallow and silly.
Seeking multiple news sources is the only way to get the whole story on anything.
Perhaps the news anchors aren't really paying attention to what they're reading, so they don't cry about it. Seriously.

good previous Water Cronkite. i assumed he'd bypass on perpetually. On Huntley/Brinkley, i'm the right age to bear in mind whilst David Brinkley replaced into "the new child" and Chet Huntley replaced into the pro veteran. relatively bowled over me sooner or later once I observed Brinkley and he had white hair! I bear in mind listening to Walter Winchel on the radio as an exceedingly little woman. yet there'll on no account be certainly all and sundry like Paul Cato. He replaced into surely a climate guy in Tampa, Florida some years in the past. do no longer think he remains there, even with the indisputable fact that. each and all the ladies tuned in to observe Paul Cato. So good-looking, one among these appealing voice. My, my!

I have wondered about that also. I think that they watch it before the news, and they probably get all the tears out then. Me??? I would still cry. I wouldnt be able to help it. Ps. Tim sounds like a insensitive bast**d.
