Pope Benedict XVI, while delivering a lecture at University of Regensburg, said that " ...violence embodied in the Muslim idea of Jihad, or holy war, is contrary to reason and God's plan", quoting a 14th century Byzantine emperor, Manual II Paleologus. Considering the tension between the west and the Muslim world, was this comment necessary or purposeful?

So many people have been traumatized by what happened yesterday when a young man shot at students all over the place and killed at least one young lady; Anastasia D'souza, and injured about 20 others, some of whom are in critical conditon in hospitals. How can a man with three riffles and a lot of ammunition ( more in his car apparently ) can carry something like that and do this by himself ? Do you think there was someone else involved?
It is too soon to speculate on that and we all must not get paranoîa about this. There was so much said that it is all confusing. Live on tv too. My heart goes to the victims and their families and friends, also to those who witnessed such a horrible massacre.
I believe all of the violence in movies and video games does have something to do with how a disturbed person comes to accomplish such bloody terror. It is also too easy to get guns and riffles. Something is very wrong with society and it's not getting any better.

Using up my q's as still level 1 and cannot respond to other posts and may be this will get me on the 'watch list,' but is this the America that lost so many dead and maimed in the name of freedom?
