Sometimes peoples background or education determines how they speak and the words they use. If you don't know what a word means don't be afraid to ask. You could also look up the word and meaning later. You may want to do some studying to expand your vocabulary either on your own or by taking a class. The more words you know and use the better your communication skills. It will help you in many areas of your life.

How are they to know you don't understand them? What is wrong with using all possible words in our vocabulary? Do we need to dumb down, just because some don't know the meaning of a word? Grab that book called a dictionary and expand your vocabulary. Heck you can even do it online.

Why do you not understand the words that people use? :o)
Many people have not taken a course in basic English (or they failed it) and don't know how to use a dictionary or a spell checker, so they just make stuff up as they go along.

You could always expand your vocab. If you dont understand a word... ask!! If you read something and you don't understand a word... look it up!! Maybe you should just look at the dictionary a bit and learn a few new words!!

Some people just have a better grasp of grammer (speaking) and a more extensive vocabulary (words). You choose not too.
That doesn't make you the sharpest tool in the shed, does it?

People use the words that they know - why don't you use this forum to ask those people who use words that you don't know why they use them? I thought this place was for people to help find answers not waste time with lame questions.

Just because you don't "get words" doesn't mean the people are going to stop using them..

Just ask them what they mean if you don't understand. There is nothing wrong with doing that.
