Should'nt we start supporting the firms who manufacture in this country and not the ones who close factories down and re-locate to other countries because they can get cheaper labour. The more we support our own firms then the more people we will have in work.

Hi! An old boy who has helped me since I started in this firm is probably the best Surveyor in our office. due to retire in a few years he has encouraged me and got me out of a lot of scrapes. He is the most effecient and respected staff member in the company and always first with the client. A new manager about 35 years old started last year the same time I got promoted. The old boy has said little to me but from other staff I hear the manager is on his back, bawling him out infront of the whole office almost making him stand to attention pulling him up when the knot from his tie drops, and worst of all banging and kicking his desk while he is sitting at it. We are a non union office and I or any of the other older staff can think of anything to do about it. I'm no longer in that office. Any body out there been in this position and how did you tackle it. I'v thought about takling the B?????d. You know take the manager to one side but I.m not his boss what do I do if he tells me to FO

Where I work we have people on long term sick leave accross the firm. Loads of women on maternity leave as well. Its costing the earth to maintain these people. What is the law? Sometimes i feel there should be a law which women should sign to say that they will not get pregnent within say 2 years of taking the job!

yeah.. so I was just thinking about how similiar Britain and America are, I mean, we share the same language (pretty much, hehe), but there are also things that you have that we don't, and things in America that you dont have.. so here are some of the things I was wondering about, Do you have (or how popular is):

*Cheerleaders and Cheerleading squads?
*Country music (Tim McGraw, Tobey Keith)?
*Buffalo Wings (chicken wings with spicy sauce)?
*Taco bell?
*School sports (like where different schools compete againts each
other.. not recess)?
*Emo music/scene?
*Disney/Nickelodeon channels?
*Spongebob Square pants?
*Pick-up trucks (big ones like Ford F-350's and Dualy's[4 tires in
back)?
*Hockey?
*American Quarter Horses?
*Motorola RAZR and SLVR and "Sidekick" (and what is the most
popular kind of cell phone in Britain, the RAZR is VERY popular here)?

So, answer if you have time, thanks! This has been buggin me so much!
