waffle is right - it's a pretty straight profession nowadays. They have to keep to the law and can't use false pretences. If yellow pages doesn't do it try back page of Private Eye. Sadly, word of mouth isn't much help here. I hope it isn't something dull like a matrimonial dispute?

you look up pi in your local phonebook ( you may have to look it up in a city near you) and its lsikely to cost about 40 to 300 dolars an hour... if u get the really good ones they are about 200 or 250 an hour.
if the prob your having is online with a person then search on dogpile.com to find a pi for online.
you can search at dogpile.com also for pi's in your area.
have a good day.
