Right this is what you need to do:
1 - open a UK bank account or you will find it hard to access money here.
2 - try to get a job online BEFORE you arrive, you WILL need the money as soon as you get here as things are expensive.
3 - buy a guide book to Britain, there are lots of places you can live and London is amongst the most expensive. Leeds, York, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff... are all great places to live (perhaps not Birmingham...) and much cheaper than London.
4 - arrange a 2 week coach tour of Britain so you get an idea of the nation and have a nice introduction to the culture. It will also be fun.
5 - register with a NHS doctor (and if possible dentist) as soon as you start renting a flat/ house.
6 - house prices are high here but if you shop around you can get a good deal on a place to rent/ buy - don't go for the first place you see.
7 - If you are Islamic then most large supermarkets stock Halal foods. The same goes for Kosher foods if you are a Jew.
8 - Register with the Inland Revenue - this is the tax office and they will make sure you don't pay excess tax on your earnings, many people here pay too much tax because they have not registered as the correct tax code.
9 - If you want a TV you will need to pay a TV liscence fee. This is the law - the money funds BBC shows. It costs around £120.00 per year for this liscence and you can get one at any Post Office. A Post Office is a common shop that sells stationary and postage stamps.
10 - In the south of Britain people do not usually greet strangers with "Hello" or "Good morning" but in the north of Britain such as in Yorkshire or Scotland then it is rude not to do this.
11 - Register to vote at your local council office - voting is the right and duty of every British Citizen.
12 - It is well worth doing an evening class at a local college, not only as a qualification but also to make friends and meet people. Try a basic language class like GCSE French or German as this will also help you if you want to visit one of these countries on holiday.
13 - Many things in Britain are expensive so be aware of this. Also some people will try to rip you off by charging too much. Haggling, although legally allowed, is not acceptable behaviour in shops.
14 - It is well worth visiting museums and art galleries to learn about British history and culture. The British are a nation of great heritage and you should be respectful of this (although Egypt has the Pyramids so I guess you must already respect history).
15 - Make sure you get a National Insurance Number - you need this for most jobs and it entitles you to a state pension. Contact the Citizens Advice Bureau (they have offices all over Britain) on how to get this important number.
16 - A mobile telephone is very common and useful here. They are not expensive. Be careful though - thieves love to steal them!
17 - Get a card to use the local library - reading is wonderful and Britain has a great library network so you can read books for free!
I hope you have a great time here! Good luck my friend!

London is a VERY expensive city to live in. Try moving to Leeds or Birmingham where the cost of living is much lower. If you are ill you get subsidised medication from any pharmacy with a doctor's perscription. Most hospital treatments are free. A passport is a valid form of ID for almost everything in the UK. You should arrange a UK bank account before you arrive and try to arrange a job of some kind as you will certainly need money as soon as you get here. Good luck my friend.

Ignore the other bigots on here, Monkeyman gave you the best advice in detail. However just to confirm that you do not need an identification card to live or work in the UK, as long as you have a passport that is all you need.
Once you get a job, and there are plently of them in your field of expertise, the company will assist you with registration with the tax authorities ect.
Good luck on your new life,
BTW i am an Englishman who decided to leave and live abroad, as got fed up with the UK, but hope that you enjoy it.

What part are you going to? We went to Salt Lake City and then to San Diego and everywhere you look people are advertising for help. Dallas is a good place to get a computer job. People are nice except for maybe the east coast. The only cheap hotel you are going to find is where there is no work. You will spend LOTS more money than you atticipate. Do you belong to a church? I know it doesn't matter where I go, if I need help I contact the church in that area. They can hook you up with a place to stay, a job, whatever you need. Good Luck. You'll have fun. If you don't die. lol, just kidding. Oh, and another thing..you're accent will get you a lot farther. People here love people with accents. Especially the girls. You'll have it made.

I think you should practice English more as you make many mistakes. Polish this up before you go if you want to be taken seriously. London is a tough nut to crack!
