You dont have to pay tax if you get the sender to write on the percel that its for a gift, as my mother didnt do that and had to pay £45 tax.

Yes you will pay duty and import tax. IF the customs stop it, and they usually do.
What doesn't help is that the American exporter puts the full (real) value on the green slip, the customs declaration.
If you get nabbed you'll be lucky if the item doesn't end up costing you 160-170 quid. It is rarely a bargain buying stuff from the USA.

I believe you will if there is tax in the UK. I order a lot of things from a place in The USA called QVC, and I have to pay a tax because the state I live in charges tax. Hope I helped.

I ordered a musical instrument from Australia costing £180 and have to pay £60 in tax and dues. I would guess your goods will have £40 or so in taxes added.

Yes, u will pay , but it would be defined on nature of goods beacuse duty & taxed are imposed on items as per different percentage/ratio, also custom take a item (value) according to custom tarriff book, not on u have to purchase. so you can check payable taxes by items, invoice value, freight etc.

yes you will have to pay customs on the value of the item, it is usually set up based on a percentage of the retail value of the item. different percentages for different values and even on the actual type of item. there are usually more than one variable involved. customs and VAT etc etc... you may be able to have it included in your customs exemption. talk to someone at your local postoffice they will be able to give you the best advice.
