I have a Crape Myrtle Tree that is about 5 yrs old. The last 2 years it got this funny white powdery stuff on the leaves and eventually on the flowers. Now the powder is coming again on the leaves. (Its doesn't have flowers yet). Last year I sprayed it with an incesticide made for pests, but it did no good. What can I spray on this tree to get rid of this white powder before it blossoms and ruins the beauty of the tree? Thank you for any ideas. This tree is so beautiful when it blooms. Big lavendar flowers.

I want to paint a bathroom that has wallpaper on it. The walls behind that are not textured, and I'd like a textured color on the walls. How do I take off the wallpaper? Is it really messy? How to I get textured walls?

I live in San Diego, and have a tiny garden which I love extended from our condo, but it's also surrounded by Ivy, which I guess these annyoing little creatures love and they are eating my garden up. I just read that putting pennies as a barrier around my garden will help and also read to spray part water and vinegar mixture, but it didnt' say if it was safe or not to spray on my plants. Will vinegar ruin my plants? I want to find a safe, natural way to do this. My cats go on our patio and I dont want to get them sick.

The walls in my house are all plain white walls. I have a few questions: First- The walls look dirty and discolored- they have not been painted in years, and are very marked up. Would we be able to get away with painting just 1 coat of white to the walls and have it look good enough to show a possible buyer? Second- If one coat of paint will suffice, then what about using just one coat of paint on all of the walls but instead of using white we would use a warmer color like beige, off white, or something like that (I heard that it makes the house feel warmer.) Third- We have very high vaulted ceiling throughout the house, what do you suggest we do to reach high areas...( we are trying to save $- so I will paint the walls myself and get some friends to come over and help out). and Fourth- I heard there is a cool hand machine that you can rent which sprays paint onto walls and gets the job done quicker, what is the deal with that- how much is that, where do I get it, is it messy?thanx

I am currently renting an apartment with an office and fairly large master bedroom. My only complaint is the lack of overhead lighting in these rooms. Since there is no possible way for me to add overhead lighting due to the construction/leasing agreement, can you recommend some effective (and reasonably priced) solutions? I am the type of person who likes a very well-lit house (not dim lighting b/c it makes me sleepy/tired)...

Just had white wooden venetian blinds fitted but I hate them! want the natural wood look - Can i get natural wood stain or varnish type products to change the colour? (Yes I realise I have a very slow and messy task ahead - but I paid an arm and a leg for these blinds and have no other choice!)

It's your standard shower/tub configuration (hot & cold knobs, faucet to fill tub, showerhead and a knob to send water up to showerhead). It worked fine for the last 12 months and now I have water coming out of the faucet AND the showerhead (could be dangerous, excessive water flow etc) suggestions?

I have a 4,000 sq foot home with 2 25 gallon water heaters that are hooked up in Tandam. When one blew a few years ago the plumber said just do two, so you will have plenty of water. I was thinking about getting rid of both of them and getting a tankless water heater, but I understand that with purchase and installation, it could run $2,000 or more. Is it worth it?

I need to replace the diverter stem but the place where you put the wrench to turn the old one out is rounded off and I can not move it. Do you know any tricks? Is it taken out by turning counter clockwise? Would applying heat with a torch help or hurt. What tool would work best? No, I do not have any dynamite! This is one of those frustrating things that should be very easy but turns out to be a pain in the you know what. Thanks for any help!
