Use a granular Weed Killer or a weed and feed if you would like to fertilize your lawn at the same time. You spread on your lawn with a spreader. Comes in large bag. Remember though you can not use weed and feed and put grass seed out at the same time. It would prevent the seed from coming up.

Why? Clover adds nitrogen to the soil, is low growing, and green. When mowed the mulch improves the earth. It doesn't require much water, fertilizer (becausi it is fertilizer) or maintenance.
The opposite scenario:
Roundup will kill any green growing thing when painted on full strength. don't get it on your feet.
