Beer, Wine & Spirits - March 2007

I am going to meet a very important person and I wanted to buy them wine. The person I am buying for loves wine/champagne, prefers champagne. I know little to nothing about wine/champagne and I can't afford an expensive bottle, just something at walmart. I have no clue as to what type to buy. What type of champagne would you suggest? I am sorry to be so vague on the question but like I said, I know little about wine/champagne. Thank you very much!

I am not a red wine drinker normally, but I would like to find a wine that is sweet, not too tangy. Easy to swallow that kinda wine, i like fruity stuff. To make it easy I love drinking grape juice. Is there a nice red wine that fits this profile?
