I am going to meet a very important person and I wanted to buy them wine. The person I am buying for loves wine/champagne, prefers champagne. I know little to nothing about wine/champagne and I can't afford an expensive bottle, just something at walmart. I have no clue as to what type to buy. What type of champagne would you suggest? I am sorry to be so vague on the question but like I said, I know little about wine/champagne. Thank you very much!

The thing is, if he loves wine, a cheap bottle won't cut it unless it's actually good. Korbel and similar wines just won't make the grade and will probably be used for mimosas one morning.

The first thing to know is about vintage vs. non-vintage. Non-Vintage (NV) is a blend of years, vineyards, and grapes. Vintage is from one particular harvest. Vintage is typically higher quality, and therefore, more expensive.

If you want to stay under $20, get Mirabelle by Schramsberg. I just had a bottle last night and it's a fabulous NV for the price.

Argyle is also acceptable. Their prices vary from just under $20 and I think usually top out around $40 for their mass market bubbly.

If you want to stay under $40, but prefer quality to label, then a Vintage Schramsberg would be my choice. Any of the big four, Blanc de Blanc, Blanc de Noirs, Cremant, or Brut Rose will be phenominal. If you want true Champagne, Duval-Leroy Non-Vintage is supposed to be quite good. It's probably one of the few French Non-Vintage wines I would buy.

Personally, I think that White Star (Moet), Veuve Cliquot yellow label, and Taittinger NV are overpriced for their worth. Now, give me a vintage of those same labels, and I'm happy.

you can go for a cheaper WINE if you would like....but these are just sparkling wine not champ. Champ. can only be made in champ. france. The cheapest and best bottle for your money would be moet and chandon white star about $32 a bottle but this is acually champagne and not a sparkling wine. If that is too much for you, and you like a sweeter taste try martini and rossi asti about $12 a bottle. This is Very popular with females becuase of the sweet taste.

If you can afford about $19, get a bottle of Mumms. The blanc de blancs or the demi-sec are both good choices. At least here I can pick them up at the local Safeway. I've never met anyone who didn't like Mumms. Good luck!

I had the comparable concern. The instruments you need to purchase are stupidly costly. i offered a bottle of champers from ASDA, and a pair of flutes. I secured them in a sturdy cardboard field, and embellished it with ribbons and glitter. plenty greater astounding than save offered stuff. in ordinary terms a sprint time eating. sturdy success!
