Is it because of the culture? Food? Relatively laid-back lifestyle? Natural beauty? Friendly folks? Colleges that are just as good if not better than what the north has to offer? The fact that people are more likely to smile and start a conversation with you?
I live in Kentucky, which prides itself as being a Southern state yet mostly has people who are meaner and more narcisstistic than those in much larger cities like NYC and Boston (believe me, I'VE BEEN AROUND the country.) I want to move to the South in the next 2-3 years. I'm looking forward to the move, as a matter of fact, and I haven't even decided where I'm going to live yet! (BTW, states like KY, WV, VA, MO, DE, and MD don't count, sorry.)
