Don't ask for anything! Expect nothing and your expectations will be exceeded. Things won't make your or my birthday any more memorable or better- I swear. The best "things" in life, can not be bought- ask for peace, love, acceptance, friendship, honesty, dignity, humility, integrity... these are priceless "things"

How about asking for health and happiness for another year, so many people take that for granted. You could also ask for the love and compassion of everyone you know.

You should ask for love. Look at your parents sincerely and stare at them intently and ask them solemnly. "Mom. Dad. For my birthday this year I want only one thing. It won't cost any money, you won't have to wait in line for it. I want love."
