The legalization of cannabis should take place worldwide. I'm over 50 and was a teenager during the 60's and 70's when in was pretty much sociably acceptable to smoke. Hell, if you didn't smoke you were considered weird. cannabis was legal in the U.S until near the end of the prohibition on alcohol. The government, not wanting to admit the prohibition raised the crime levels due to booze smuggling from Canada, blamed it on cannabis, thus the delegalization of it. Right now the sale of it is completely controlled by drug lords, smugglers, and pushers that are raking in billions of dollars annually. The government could take the control away from them, impose taxes, and possibly age limits like they do with tobacco and alcohol, and help our economy greatly. Besides, No one has ever overdosed on it, or had to go through detox like with alcohol. Most people I know just mellow out and don't have the energy to fight and be violent like alcoholics do. There is no evidence that I know of that the liver and other vital organs are damaged as with alcohol and tobacco. Lastly, I would gladly get into a car with a stoner driving than a drunk. The stoner is so paranoid he won't go over 30 miles an hour!! The drunk is all over the freakin road, killing and injuring thousands of people. HELL YES!! LEGALIZE IT!!!!

It is already a crime to drive whilst under the influence of cannabis and police are testing new roadside devices. Research suggests that people driving under the influence of cannabis actually kill more people than those who drink drive.

Since cannabis remains in the system for up to four days the police will probably be able to spot the user because he is walking for the next year!

Cannabis has been shown to be highly significant in the growth of psychological disorders particular schizophrenia and also figures quite significantly in suicides for some reason. Possibly through the psychological disorders.

Smoking is said to cause cancer and yet cannabis adds far more significant chemicals to the smoke mix suggesting that it is probably far more cancerous. Have not seen any research in that direction yet though.
I suspect that like a lot of things that a little in moderation is fine but overall I would have to say the down sides of it's effects say it should be illegal.

Cannabis should defiantly NOT be made legal. In my opinion it is the first step to moving up the ladder to harder drugs, to get an even better Hi. I have until recently been involved in sports coaching and it is a blight on coaching when drugs rear their ugly head. So I am anti drug and defiantly against Cannabis being made legal.

I somoked it since 15 years old. Both my sons smoke it. If you had asked me 10 years ago, I would have said OF COURSE make it legal. Now, I think differently. Cannabis makes you very peaceful, loving and accepting of other cultures. So you end up doing nothing, just being peaceful. But you know what? Throughout history there have been mild, peaceful people. They don't bother anybody. Then one day some soldiers come along, take them outside, make them kneel and shoot them through the head. That, UNFORTUNATELY, is how all peaceful cultures end up. I still dig getting stoned though!

Well, as long as the government regulates and taxes alcohol and tobacco, I don't see why they shouldn't do the same with Cannabis. It's certainly no more harmful. It would make more sense to do that than spend tax dollars incarcerating users.

And, it would seem, the last two presidents have demonstrated that users can be ambitious, successful, and productive members of society.

I do. They tax me out the a** every time I buy ciggs why not tax the potheads too? Seriously though if the gov't could tax and monitor pot then it would get laced with more dangerous drugs that lead to other addictions. Cause I don't care what anyone says pot is not addictive.

Me! Even here, in the Netherlands, it is still not legal after more then 30 years of tolerance. The only reason it's still illegal is because of pressure from other countries.

Insane.
