Name the drummer, and the well known US band he played with!

The last time I posted this it went into voting, and was answered incorrectly. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention.

Obviously, it wouldn't be fair to assume that someone is stupid just because of their choice in music. But in my experience, the people I've met who are generally unintelligent seem to prefer the music of Britney Spears, Nickelback (who I must admit to kinda liking), or any rap or emo music. It has also been my experience that when I meet someone who impresses me with their intelligence, they like music such as Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, or Nirvana. Clearly there is music made for unique, intelligent, and artistic people...then there's music made for idiots who like what they're told. It just blows my mind that there are so many brilliant songs from The Beatles like "I Am The Walrus" or "Eleanor Rigby", but the people of today would rather listen to Justin Timberlake whisper and squeal like a girl into a mic while pre-recorded beats loop in the background. How does everyone else feel? Does taste reflect intelligence?

Most of my CD collection is made up of classic rock, 80s metal, and melodic rock bands from Europe, plus a few essentials like James Taylor and Jim Croce, but this one always causes the eyebrows to go up: Eva Cassidy - Songbird.

What's the oddball in your collection?

2007-10-01 06:24:48 · 28 answers · asked by Mike AKA Mike 5

And I mean you went to the store and purchased the actual disc. Or you ordered the actual disc from an online vendor.

And what was the last album you downloaded?

Both of mine involve replacing stuff that was in my collection at one time:

CD: Thermadore's "Monkey on Rico". This was stolen from my car over 10 years ago. I couldn't find it anywhere (I believe it's out-of-print) so I ordered it when I finally found it on eBay.

Download: someone borrowed my copy of Smashing Pumpkins' "Siamese Dream" and misplaced it. Since only the disc was missing, and not the case and artwork, I downloaded it.

Just trying to get an idea of what everybody's buying habits are now.

Often times, a severe change will mean the downfall of a band,
my beloved Guns N' Roses being quite an obvious example...
=/

Can you think of any that actually improved once the line-up had changed severely?

Where did rock music originate?

2007-10-01 04:49:06 · 12 answers · asked by HCOcowgirl 2

First off, let me say that I am aware the real victims of this tragedy were those who were killed or wounded. Still, a part of me always thought that these two acts got a raw deal for being the preferred music of the “Trenchcoat Mafia.” Instead of looking at the parents, the guns shops or school security, it’s always easier to blame the satanic rock stars. Perhaps it’s coincidence but Manson hasn’t done much of anything since 1999 other than alienate his entire band. Also, KMFDM made a series of idiotic decisions around the same time, like changing their name to MDFMK and going to a major label that didn’t know how to market them. They did come out with Tohuvabohu about a month ago, but I have yet to see anyone mention it in here. Unlike Manson, this album should be getting a lot more attention.

The band are releasing their seventh album, "In Rainbows" themselves, and will make it available for digital download on their website, allowing you to decide how much you will pay for it.

Personally, I think I'll get the "Discbox", which includes the digital download, as well as 2 CDs and 2 vinyls, at a cost of £40.

What about you?
