Most of my CD collection is made up of classic rock, 80s metal, and melodic rock bands from Europe, plus a few essentials like James Taylor and Jim Croce, but this one always causes the eyebrows to go up: Eva Cassidy - Songbird.

What's the oddball in your collection?

lnr - That's funny. That's also the only Ratt CD that I ever dust off. I just never liked them all that much, but they had enough songs on that collectiion that made it worth buying.

Sookie - You're right, Patsy does indeed rock.

My collection is so diverse, you wouldn't be able to pin-point it. But, one of the odder ones, is Throat Singing from Tuva.
I also have Vincent Laguardia Gambini Sings Just For You (as performed by Joe Pesci).

Depends on how you want to look at it. There are a few things (the Arm of Roger is a good example) that are just out of place anywhere because they are really bizarre records. Crispin Glover is another good example of that.

In the way that you're asking though, probably Apollo 100. They were this 60s instrumental band that did kind of like big band with a rock slant covers of various tunes. I particularly like their William Tell Overture. They are pretty out of place though. I've got some Ravi Shankar too. I think that one makes more sense, but soundwise is probably the one that is closest to being on an island. I've got a pretty eclectic collection with a lot of rock, folk, hip hop, classical and jazz so I'm not sure what the best direction to go would be. Probably Shankar. Maybe Fela Kuti. It's definitely distinctive.

I love most types of genres so I have tons of what could be considered to most as 'oddball' in my CD collection of over 3000. Examples....
Lajos Boross and his Gipsy Band -
The Virtuosi of the Gipsy Music

The Kroumata Percussion Ensemble

The Virtuoso Trombone - Lindberg/Pöntimen

a little closer to rock....
Dr. Ring-Ding & The Senior Allstars - Dandimite!

and no band was/is more oddball than....
Stump - A Fierce Pancake

I have a really diverse collection, so I'm not sure if anything stands out as the oddball. I've been known to scare (or at least confuse) music store clerks with some of my combinations.
Clerk: "Aerosmith, Patsy Cline and Glenn Miller? Doing some Christmas shopping?"
Me: "Nope, it's all mine."

I have a very non-mainstream band collection, Like stuff that no one over the age of 20 listens to, very screamo type stuff and then there is the "Baby Einsteins Lullaby Classics" cd that is in my Ecape the Fate case because my toddler sister likes to play in my cd's and put that one in there and I just never took it out.

Most of my music is metal, punk, thrash. I have some classic rock and classic r&b. But I do have one country album: Eric Heatherly - Swimming in Champagne. However it is a very rock-a-billy in style. The other is Billie Holiday : Hits.

Probably have a few. I buy a lot music. I'm thinking the Propeller Heads. I heard 'History Repeating' and really liked it, but not enough to play it cause I really dislike the rest of the album.

I have a little bit of everything in my collection, but my best friend pulled out my Fergie CD the other day and kind of raised her eyebrows, so I guess that would be it. I usually avoid the pop stuff altogether, but she's catchy, dang it!

I have a couple hundred cds and they are mostly rock. Then I have a 6th grade honor band cd. Like flutes and trumets and that kind of band. But the best part is it is like 6th graders that can't even play their instruments yet. Its great.

Let's see...I've got a live disc from this guy that does polka. Columbia House sent it to me accidentally and I kept it.

I also have the soundtrack for "Out of Africa" which is almost entirely orchestral, and it's beautiful.

And Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits. Patsy rocks!
