if mobb deep was as good as they were back in 95, 2pac was still alive, dre was still droppin bombs, snoop still had it, and if noone had come up with "dirty south hip hop" then maybe hip hop would still be alive. seriously the only hip hop from the 00's era i can stand is nas, mos def, common, and talib kweli, and some snoop dogg. i mean hip hop sucks now. first of all, theese ****** are just making up words like ballin, and so many rappers today are so uncreative like lil jon who can apperantly only say YEAH, WHAT, and OKAY. and MIMS who said "this is why im hot" 4395743957 times in one song. and so many rappers boastin about there hoes, there chains, there guns, there money, there homies, and there clothes. when really, most rappers today make about as much money as a middle school math teacher, so basically there bragging about sh*t that they dont even got. i mean most of the hip hop records being sold today are being bought by white 12 year olds. a lot of my friends are into rock...i however like rap/hip hop....and no, its not a race and color thing cuz most of my friends are black...i mean, there is this one song i like from the fray and that's it...i dont understnd fall out boy and linkin park...is it becuz of the environment i grew up in? im definitely not ghetto, so that shouldnt explain the rap side of me. my father enjoys rock. my mom prefers r&b...i grew up in a proper family, but i dont know why i prefer hip hop and rap. rock actually gives me a headache and i dont see how u can dance to it...i love to dance, so maybe thats why i like hip hop...but it is still a question in my mind.

(oh and excuse how i write some of my words, i IM a lot, so i type that way and i know how some ppl hate it. sorry if it bothers u)

rap is totally different. All im listening to now is old stuff or underground like Nas, Little Brother, Immortal Technique, T.I. (early days), Snoop dog, Dre, The Game. Whats really funny. Every thinks im strange cause i listen to all this old stuff. And everyone else likes that snappin stuff. I live in ATL theres old hip hop here but it doesnt get radio play. Only thing does is like snap songs.....bleh

Let's say the two sides would have a rap feud. And let's say all the NATIVE rappers from each side that were either killed or retired were alive and still rapping.(excluding Tupac, he's not a California native). Which side would win. I have my bet on LA because they had much more talented rappers down there and it is the birth of gangsta rap. Also, say if they had a gang war, who would win?

Hip Hop musicians have been accused of writing bad lyrics that corrupt society. I personally do not want to hear a song that's offensive (my opinion). More importantly, I would not let my children hear it, so why would I do.
Please post references that support and attack hip hop music.

I know this question has been asked already but its my turn
Lets start with Kanye West as a Musician; his production is on point, every song, every album his s@#$ sounds bigger than a regular record. Then people say well he samples, stupid hes not the first nor will he be the last to sample old songs and make them hot! what's wrong with taking a classic but "dead" song and breathing freshness into it? nothing! Why do you think nearly everyone in the industry has a Kanye West record an their album. HE brought back Common to relevancy in the game by producing his WHOLE record before he even got paid for it, thats unheard of.
I've heard he's a fraud! what is he rappin about guns and coke? No, what he writes is about is him: funny, fresh, smart and inventive. Lyrics are always tight, dont believe check out the Throw some D's (KANYE REMIX).
He's Cocky? Nobody gave him a shot to rap and then his album are classics wouldn't you be cocky too!
And the George Bush comments? Please!!!!
