Hip Hop musicians have been accused of writing bad lyrics that corrupt society. I personally do not want to hear a song that's offensive (my opinion). More importantly, I would not let my children hear it, so why would I do.
Please post references that support and attack hip hop music.
I am not interested in trash talking. Thanks.

I don't know, my parents made me return a rap cd once when they picked up my cd player and heard it. But now thats pretty much all I listen to. I also am a white male that doesn't curse, sleep around, do drugs, or do anything that rap music advocates. So, there is no way to keep someone away from the music, because they will eventually get it. But I would restrict them from listening to it until they or old enough to not take the messages serioulsy.

In my opinion every genre of music has it's bad and good. I like hip hop so I don't find it too disturbing, although some rap isn't at all to my liking because of it's degrading content. Some hip hop is very socially conscious and has positive messages. But rock, and country music both have their particular songs as well that are demeaning or degrading or racist. If I ever have children I hope I would listen to music WITH them instead of letting them listen alone.

Me personally I would let my children listen to classic Hip Hop music. Not the **** now lol. Hip hop now is garbage. But I would let them listen to old Outkast, A tribe called Quest, Old Wu TAng, KRS one, Rakim, Big Pun, Big L and more, when hip hop was real hip hop. Not all of hip hop are bad lyrics.

yes i would let them listen to the music its not hurting anyone becuase most of the stuff rappers write is true they are only rapping about what they see! They see this stuff while walkign down the street then they are gonna make a rap about it! ANd sometimes music expresses the way many people feel! Like runaway love by mary j. blidge and ludacris my daughter and her friends were able to relate to that! It helps to ease the pain off many kids! Like when i get mad most times i go turn the radio listen to this hip hop dance a little and then i cool down! But i truely think rappers are only rapping about what they see! If we would stop acting the way we do they wouldnt have all this negative stuff to rap about! If we stop selling drugs stop killing people stop killing and abusing our spouses then they wouldnt have anything to say! If parents stop letting their tennage daughters do everything and anything and know where they are and what they are doing then they wouldnt have to rap about young girls shaking their butts and stuff! And sometimes it shames the girls! when they hear this they are like i was shaking my butt last nignt in a club and they are talking about me! So until we change they are not gonna change thier rapping! This my perosnal Opinion not meant to offend anyone!

Hip hop is not as bad as it looks.
Of course there are many songs with a bad language and stuff but there are many others that the lyrics are nice!
you can see some lyrics at www.letssingit.com
you just write the singer or the name of a song and it will appear...

Yup. I grew up listening to many genres of music including hip hop and listening to the morals and values that my parents had. When I have kids, I rather them listen to hip hop and I tell them what is right and wrong, than let them listen to it (without me knowing) and allowing hip hop artist to raise my kids.

Yes. Because otherwise you would have to make them listen to Christian music and only that because everysong is like rap, but it just doesn't have the fast talking and the same beats. Country music talks about sex and drugs and cheating and strippers. Why would you let them listen to country and not to rap when it's the same?
