I know this question has been asked already but its my turn
Lets start with Kanye West as a Musician; his production is on point, every song, every album his s@#$ sounds bigger than a regular record. Then people say well he samples, stupid hes not the first nor will he be the last to sample old songs and make them hot! what's wrong with taking a classic but "dead" song and breathing freshness into it? nothing! Why do you think nearly everyone in the industry has a Kanye West record an their album. HE brought back Common to relevancy in the game by producing his WHOLE record before he even got paid for it, thats unheard of.
I've heard he's a fraud! what is he rappin about guns and coke? No, what he writes is about is him: funny, fresh, smart and inventive. Lyrics are always tight, dont believe check out the Throw some D's (KANYE REMIX).
He's Cocky? Nobody gave him a shot to rap and then his album are classics wouldn't you be cocky too!
And the George Bush comments? Please!!!!

Seriously GUYS, the George Bush comments. Half of ya'll probably voted for that dumbass!! Facts!!! was he there for Katrina when he should of? NO Was he there with enough help? NO Is George Bush the worst president we've ever had? YES So Kanye West had a point, he's a very emotional person and he says what he feels at the time with no filter! if that offends people thats ya'll dumbass fault. Kanye IS hip hop and if you dont like him you dont like hip hop. Remember when nwa said f#@k the police, and Public Enemy said Fight the Power. ya'll a bunch of soft people. GUNS COKE AND RIMS dont have to be in a song for it to be hard, Kanye is a league of his own music, videos, style, and production. Songs were meant to be sampled!! haters gather his record comes out in august!

lol btw kanye didn't produce ALL of common's album "Be", the late j dilla also contributed. there is no problem with sampling but the issue at hand is that people start making similar material. and anyways, adding a drum loop to a sample isn't always adding freshness to it lol. kanye was cool when he released college dropout, which is classic, but he seems to be more inclined to his fame now. he may not rap about guns and coke but what's up with golddigger, slow jams, and the videos for them? absolute crap lol. the throw some d's remix is terrible too, he's just blending into the garbage the industry makes. i don't think he's out to really threaten status quo anymore, he's getting real mainstream and watering down his production work for other artists. i'm not saying i hate him tho, he is really talented and his albums have been mostly great, except late registration (there were some good songs). he really keeps all the good beats for himself and a select few.

I personally like Kanye, I think his lyrics are rather clever, and especially on the first album, actually had a lot of substance especially the song "all falls down". That might have scared people, because they saw themselves in his lyrics. I personally don't like the continuous samples of music though. I feel that some songs should just be left alone. If all we do is continue to sample what would that leave for future generations?

But I do think he was out of line for the George Bush comments...but...I do think he is a bit cocky....but hey...I don't have to like him as a person to enjoy his music.

I did buy graduation and i do agree that it wasn't his best work, but is was really good...expectations were just too high....i bought graduation and his two previous Cd's(college dropout and late registration).. I went to the glow in the dark tour on Sunday and the show is awesome....kanye is more of a showman and common and lupe are fantastic lyricist...i don't put them in the same category....

I personally love Kanye but my dad and my aunt hate him what a harsh word but they do I think when he said "George Bush don't like black people"he was just giving his input I f George bush had done something 2 help During Hurricane Katrina then Kanye wouldn't have to say anything like that but whatever I'm only....well I'm young and I guess I have no right to think I know what I'm talking about but u asked.

Ignorant, loud.

Just like the majority in the entertainment business, only he's louder. "George Bush...hates black people." Honestly, come on. At least regurgitate some pundit's opinion as your own like most "opinionated" celebrities do. That way you won't look like an idiot right away.

I don't mind his music for the most part.

I don't like him as an artist. He's okay but I'm just not into his music that much. I prefer the talk of coke and guns because they're more raw and have better beats :p

His GWB comments weren't necessary either.
