The messages have changed! Back in the day Rap/Hip Hop was more original ....told a story...was humorous(at times)....taught us a lesson .....brought reality to us that we were not aware of ...gave us knowledge. Now most of the messages that are being sent are about getting women from the strip clubs....smoking weed....and violence repeated over and over which gets old quick! Everything old is new again! I have a collection of Old School Rap that I find it refreshing to hear just to get away from the current Rap trends.I think the music changed as the money went up,that's what happened to Hip Hop.The industry follows the money and the trends...to Hell with the few of us that saw Rap as a creative art form. Just because you like Old School, doesn't mean that you're an old fool.

I think the sound of hip hop is changing at a fast pace. I personally don't like all the young and lil artists but I understand you alot, I'm from duval and I go through the same thing. Its either people playing the new stuff or bumping to some local artist trying to make it.

I dont listen to the radio either, and i give you props for recognizing and appreciating real hip hop over fake even tho you live in the south where alot of the artists are makin the snap, dance, songs.

Rockout: take your punk a s s to the rock section if you dont like rap/hip hop.

Stillballin: some people want to hear real hip hop..what the hell would you know about real hip hop anyways?

The dirty south happened. Every body likes that hard stuff that has no meaning but something you can dance to. And plus there are no more lyricist except for Jay-z, Nas, Kanye, and Lupe Fiasco. Its like what Nas said Hip Hop is DEAD.

It's the next big thing. It's like the way the West blew up with gangsta rap, it blew up when it got past that tipping point. I'm sure there would be a bunch of backpackers who would be pissed if their type of music hit the airwaves and people started rocking out to that. Just keep on listening to what you like, with the internet, you're lucky you have access to everything you like.

I'm like you, I don't even listen to the radio, haven't for years. I also listen to Old stuff and classics.

Hip Hop got commercialized, just like these Boy Bands that are put together.

Considering rap's been around 30+ years it's probably more a case of what happened to hip-hop fans.....

Think about how back in the day (when I was young I'm not a kid anymore but somedays I sit and wish I was a kid again --- ooooops forgot what I was doin *lol*), your older relatives asked why you wanted to listen to that mess......now we're doing it to kids.

i know i cant stand this music.the old stuff is all i can listen to.you know how music changes for awhile and then itll change to something else?well thats what happened. this is the music of this generation.all it does is talk about how much theyre ballin and how to dance.the way they dance now is stupid too.itll eventually change.hopefully for the better.
