Yesterday i peed my pants laughing at the idiotic and the extremely biased magazine "Rolling Stone" which ranked Dylan the second greatest artist of all-time (second to The Beatles), and ranked Elvis the third!!!LMFAO!!!is this a joke??was Dylan by any means greater or more influential than Elvis???before Elvis cried "You ain't nothin' but a Hound Dog" was there actually any music??and the thing that makes me laugh even more, that they ranked the stupid song "Like a Rolling Stone" as the greatest song ever made!!!!Dylan shouldn't be in the "Top 50 Artists" in the first place.

Elvis should've been #1 on that list because even The Beatles said that they were influenced by Elvis.

"Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles"

John Lennon

I think people look back on rock & roll of the past with great fondness and appreciation. Do you think anyone in the future will believe this generation created a talented art form in rap music with any appreciation? Or do you believe they wasted their efforts on something that will be viewed as garbage?

We need a song for a Batmizvah candle lighting ceremony.. the situation is that its he number one candle - its liten for her best friend who was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver about 2 months ago - his mom dad and brother will be the ones that light it.

We need a song that goes along the sides of "i miss you" or something. Thanks you soo much! it would be extrmley helpful if you could list the song and artist .. or if you want you could include a link to a music viedo or song hearing thing

THANKS!

...for real, when rocking out on some kind of loud, awful, brutal stuff that no one else you know would consider fit to commit to CD (or vinyl... or tape...) do you ever stop for a moment and wonder...

"Man, *why* do I like this????"

I do.

I mean, I don't think there is anything wrong with me because I like it. But I do wonder what elements of being allow me to recognize such a diverse array of sounds as enjoyable music, since the average Western Civilisation citizen does not.

And then, there was the time when the Beatles were considered the awful noise, so you know what that means... eventually this is gonna be popular... and *then* what will be the cutting edge sounds of "music"?

I was watching Sky a couple fo weeks ago and I was doing a quick channel zapping and when i got tot the music channels there was a famous band (by famous it means that it could be metallica or guns and roses) and they were playing a really cool song and in the video clip they were at funeral. I wanted to know the name of that song if anyone knows using just those details as information about the band/song. I cant remember anything else because it was a while back but now I wanted to listen to the song again and can't find it anywhere.

Any info would be helpful.

Thank you

Mauro

i was watching australian, and matt corby sang this song by coldplay. i never knew it was by coldplay, i had always thought it was by these two people who aren't big time, but have songs on myspace, their first song was the song by coldplay, and the title was 'the scientist cover' and exactly the same song

so what is a cover?

Why is that some of the most amazing artists are kept undeground, and relatively unknown. And how is it that corporations like clearchannel, mtv hold a strange on radio stations and venues. Only allowing the most hippest cool artists instead of giving art and emotion an actual chance. This may seem like a rant and most likely is. A very cliche one at that but I'd like to ask what do you think. how can we change the marketing of music and make it a true art form again? If anyone knows of any cool indie bands or even internet radio channels I could check out list um that'd be great.

Bright Eyes, Brand New, Kevin Devine, Manchester Orchestra

Four artists you should hear more about and also happen to be my favorite at the moment haha.

Here's my music page if ya have the time myspace.com/sonofacynic maybe one day I can e good enough to bchange this stupid ****. Not here to make a selfless promotion but I had the space so why not.

I don't care what genre....There;s no shock in any of it anymore,I can't be entertained by it anymore. Theres no message just a loop 3-4 repeated words.
I remember when music was composed like a symphoney and I could listen to all the scales and be enticed or touched by the poetry of the lyrics .. Now music is cheap uninspired and I can't help but feel people are stupider now and they make music for stupid people...easy and makes money.
In the past we had all kinds of break through artists and such and great songs came through it....In any genre I can't think of anything from the late 90's to know that wasn't bubble gum...
I don't know how to put it but there's nothing to look foward to... a great song is a great song and I think musical exploration is pretty much over. any thoughts?

Since I'm melodramatic, I'll have to pick "Don't Cry Joni." Wouldn't it be nice to see it turned into a movie, then use the song as the OST for it?
