Why is that some of the most amazing artists are kept undeground, and relatively unknown. And how is it that corporations like clearchannel, mtv hold a strange on radio stations and venues. Only allowing the most hippest cool artists instead of giving art and emotion an actual chance. This may seem like a rant and most likely is. A very cliche one at that but I'd like to ask what do you think. how can we change the marketing of music and make it a true art form again? If anyone knows of any cool indie bands or even internet radio channels I could check out list um that'd be great.

Bright Eyes, Brand New, Kevin Devine, Manchester Orchestra

Four artists you should hear more about and also happen to be my favorite at the moment haha.

Here's my music page if ya have the time myspace.com/sonofacynic maybe one day I can e good enough to bchange this stupid ****. Not here to make a selfless promotion but I had the space so why not.

While I completely agree with you (and love brandnew and bright eyes), Y!A isn't a place for rants. Sorry.

The best radio station in college station is classic rock... our radio sucks :(
Not all mainstream music is bad, not all indie music is bad, on the other hand not all of it is as good as some people think. I just don't like it when people like music BECAUSE its relatively unknown. There are networks for Indie music but theyre so damn hard to find because sadly many people actually listen to stuff like nickelback (arg! no! shield your eyes and ears!) even though its terrible and thats why its on the radio. so the only solution is to punch people who listen to nickelback in the face
(and btw if you live in Houston, rice radio at 91.7 plays indie stuff)

That's the whole history of the Top Ten (Hot One Hundred) etc. and the reason you hear the same songs over and over (it is a capitalist stranglehole) (though radio is dead now) Myspace (etc) and MP3 ( ill downlading :)) are great at redistribution BUT I HAVE NO WORRIES I always find SOMETHING to listen to. I'm an art lover. Hey, and what about so-called-classical music and JAZZ, no questions about their artformability and I find them all in the FREE local library.

Sadly the only way to make music Art again is to take it out of the hands of big business, listen to the underground and independent stuff, and stop buying comercial mass produced drivel, for business has killed music as an art.

By STOP writing music to Dance to, & START writing music to LISTEN to. Music shouldn't just be made to move the "feet", it should be written to move the heart & soul... It should speak to US & our lives & experiences... -It's only in THAT way that it will ever be worth listening to, -or remembering...
