I don't care what genre....There;s no shock in any of it anymore,I can't be entertained by it anymore. Theres no message just a loop 3-4 repeated words.
I remember when music was composed like a symphoney and I could listen to all the scales and be enticed or touched by the poetry of the lyrics .. Now music is cheap uninspired and I can't help but feel people are stupider now and they make music for stupid people...easy and makes money.
In the past we had all kinds of break through artists and such and great songs came through it....In any genre I can't think of anything from the late 90's to know that wasn't bubble gum...
I don't know how to put it but there's nothing to look foward to... a great song is a great song and I think musical exploration is pretty much over. any thoughts?

Just to clarifie I don't listen to mainstream music and I listen to pretty much every genre.
I like metal, jazz, country(Not most)rock and classical and I can say no matter what genre the music has gotten bad.
I like rock....like the beatles and the doors who were big hits..now it's all bubble gum. Yeah there was bubble gum during those times but now it's all bubble gum in all the genres.
true there may be a few good songs out there but as a whole in all directions seems to be crap but loved.

I am with you. 25 years as a musician myself. Very rare to hear something that makes me go"HEY!" I kinda dig Amy Winehouse's vibe, but she is already burning out as she starts. It took me 13 years before I hit my 1st rehab.

I am watching the VMA's with my kids now..........every artist so what. The only things that are exciting me is Foo Fighters, and How Britney will talk about the moment before she realized she had to apply for section 8 to afford her luxurious double-wide.

As my father said: All the good music and all the good movies were made before 1975.

I generally tend to agree. I mean there are some new songs I like, but only because they are catchy. They have no real depth. Not in comparison with what's already been done.
