I like music of Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Lily Allen, Ingrid Michaelson and Julieta Venegas.

The music is kinda slow, sometimes fun, with a lot of piano, no bang-bang, boom-boom, no excessive drums, with a lot of soul.

And the lyrics are always top notch. What kind of music is this? Is there like a name, or it's just the artistes that I happen to like.

And for those of you who have an idea of the kind of music I like, would you recommend any other artistes of the same genre?

I really like Tracy Chapman too by the way.

I've never been the most amazing singer but did do choir when I was much younger. I haven't sung in years and have lost even the "alrightness" of my singing voice. Realistically, is it possible for me to work on it with a professional to beautify my voice? Can someone who doesn't have a good voice practice with a professional to have an amazing one? I really do hope so. Honest answers please. Appreciate it. x
