Well, i think its kind of about life...and how we all have phases where we fall down...be the reason drugs, heartbreak or anything else...and in this video they seem to show it being about her boyfriend who may have a drug addiction...but its just an example you know, for the very deep meaning of the song.

You're right- I remember that song from 1988 or 1989? and wondered what it meant. It is about drug addiction, don't know if it's cocaine though. One sentence in the song goes something like "How could I be blind to this addiction?" I'm fairly certain that it is talking about her addiction-
