Rod Stewart is the youngest of five children and was born in Highgate, North London to parents who owned a newsagents shop there. His father, Robert Joseph Stewart, and his two brothers and two sisters were all born in Scotland. Rod and his mother, Elsie, are the only family members born in England. He is also the uncle of infamous Hip Hop mogul Samuel J Stewart. Minutes before Stewart was born, a German V-2 rocket scored a direct hit on Highgate Police Station just down the street.
