I'm 16, in a beginning rock band, bass, and backup drummer/guitarist. The band wants me for vocals, because my voice is smooth, and their current singer is rough and gratey. The problem is that my voice is nice, but I have pronounciation problems. I've been in choir so strength isn't the problem, but I've been to a speech therapist in Middle School, and my parents forced me out of it, so I recorded my voice and noticed mistakes.
I'm born in the United States and speak english almost always, but it's just impossible for me to fix it without help.
I'm wondering how I could contact a speech therapist at school without my parents knowing, because the pronounciation problem has been with me my whole life, causing problems not only with singing. It's making me introverted. I cannot pronounce S, R, Z, Er, A or Th. It's very embaressing that I have to be choosey for words when I speak.
Are there ways to fix this without my parents knowing?
