I can only assume this is the song you're looking for, but I didn't find lyrics. (will keep looking for a minute.) It's filed under "Soundtracks, Children's, Incredibly Strange. There's an option to download the MP3, which I did, and tried to play it on Real Player, and it froze completely after about 11 seconds. You might have better luck.
It says that the song was originally written by Buckner and Garcia, the same guys that did Pac Man Fever, (remember that classic?) so the version you mention must have been the original.
Nope.. sorry, can't find the lyrics anywhere. Email the guy on that site who has the record; maybe there are liner notes and he can send you a scan or something. (Hey.. worth a try.)

Michael Jackson released an LP of E.T. inspired music. It's quite hard to find as it was a commercial disaster at the time, but I thnk you may be able to find it on Amazon or ebay if you enter Michael Jackson and E.T.
Either that or type in Steven Speilberg E.T. and I'm sure you'll get some results.
I think that it's a picture disc with E.T. grinning all across the vinyl .
The sting in the tail is that it is a collectors item and may cost you a few quid (the last time I looked it up the asking price was £40)
I'm pretty sure this is what you are after, but I can't confirm as I've never been in possession of it and although I love the film, I don't understand why Michael Jackson would be trying to cash in on it's success.
