I love Jazz, but am a relative novice to it.
I am mostly into modern jazz, but also love a good oldie.
Some of my favourite jazz artists are:
- Charlie Hunter (at least some of his earlier stuff -- I have heard much of his newer music): Bing, Bing, Bing; Ready, Set...Shango!; Natty Dread. The album Candyman turned me off him.
- Herbie Hancock (e.g. Cantaloupe Island)
- Dave Brubeck (e.g. Time Out)
- Bélla Fleck & The Flecktones (Not strictly Jazz, I know...) I love most of their stuff.
So, mostly upbeat, instrumental Jazz fusion-like. I'm not totally against Jazz vocals, and I love some of the old standards, but maybe save that for another post.
Any suggestions?
