Lars can do what Dave Grohl can do, but I don't know that Dave can do what Lars does. Grohl did have a Metal disc out a couple years back but I never heard anything off of it.
I'd go with Lars.

Dave Lombardo is alright, but Lars Ulrich sucks, a lot. He is the most unimaginative, repetitive, overrated drummer around.

ok how can u ask a question where 2 drummers of totally different styles of drumming.
Lars is technically sound and always on good time...plus he's extremely knowledgable on muisc styles...even though he's kind of an ego...he's a great drummer.
Dave grohl is horrible..he plays the same beats over and over again....he played those same beats cause his guitarplayer/singer played the same guitar chords. Now i like foo-fighters but i really hate nirvana....dave is a better front man than kurt No-brain could ever try to be.

Dave Grohl every time... especially after appearing in the Tenacious D video and also having humility and a great sense of humour.
He also invited some survivors of a mining disaster to go and get drunk with him after her heard that they listened to Foo Fighters tracks while waiting to be rescued.
