You know what it is, when an artist takes a beat from another song and uses it in their song. Examples of this practice is shown with Kanye West, in a lot of his songs, pretty much all of them, the most clearest example is in his song Diamonds (Sierra Leon) where he takes a sample beat from the song Diamonds are forever and in Rihanna's song SOS, it has a sample beat from the song Tainted Love by Soft Cell. My question is, why is this so popular a practice? Is it right? It's legal because the guys were smart enough to obtain permission but is it right? Are artists taking a more lazy route? Is sample like quotes from books or are is it plagarism? I would like to know how you feel.

Why does everything come up as 'blues' when I insert it into the cd rom drive and begin playing it in iTunes? I'm serious, I listen to like every time of music out there, ranging from hip hop, to pop, to techno to deathmetal/grindcore, and everything says 'blues' when I put it in. What's going on?

I don't know much about heavy metal. Well, never listened to it. However, today while visiting online blogs, a fan of Ozzy Osbourne had video clips of him for the public to view.

His movements ect seem very slow, and despite his image, which would probably intimidate most people, he seems very sad and lost to me, even when performing or laughing. What has caused him to act this way, or is it part of his onstage act?

Do you think that the latest from the Scissor Sisters has shades of the Bee Gees about it?. Not that I think that there is anything wrong with the Bee Gees. What is your opinion on this group?

I find the Sissors Scissors as a group to be totally inoffensive unlike some other groups and are fun to watch at times. But then what does a boring old fart like me know about todays music scene? I only grew up with some of the best bands of their time Such as Pink floyd, Bread, Genesis and Fleetwood Mac to name but a few. Oh and the Beatles!

Can anyone put forward a valid theory as to how musical notes on a sheet of paper, when played can have such a profound effect on someones feelings? They are only sounds after all.
I hope you all can make sense of this question.

N Sync, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and all those squeaky clean boy bands broke up about 5 years ago. Backstreet tried to make a comeback with a different genre but weren't as successful as they once were with their bubble gum. Do you think it's over for "boy band" fad?
