my ipod keeps losing data everytime i link it to my laptop.first the do not disconnect sign is displayed then it dissapears without me clicking on to the safely remove hardware icon.how can i correct this?????

i like to listen to rock. like jonas brothers, busted, yellowcard, olivia the band, greenday, a.f.i., my chemical romance, etc. and my parents dont like them. i told my dad i like to listen to rck. so he cahnged the radio station to a rock band and we litened to it for a few minutes and then my dad changed as soon as it sed "someone please kill me"i tryed to buy cds and they threw it all way. i was watching mtv and they blocked that channel. i've trying to figure out how to make them like it so i can listen to it but everything i do they all ways end up hating it.
