“99”, a song inspired by the George Lucas movie THX-1138 about a society where people were given numbers instead of names. In point of fact, music video of “99” features the band in an all-white room dressed in white, a set piece designed around Lucas’ visionary film.

Let's see.. the number 99 usually, and almost always, comes before the numeral 100, and after the digit called 'ninety-eight'. It looks like this: 98.
Also, the use of 99 in songs can signify an unfulfillment, as if you were hoping for a 100, but couldn't quite reach it in the end. ^_^
