Is it just showing on a few screens in LA and NYC, or was it a bomb?

There is this movie I was watching on TV and the in the part I saw, this girl is at a New Year's eve party... shes in the middle of the crowd and she sees her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, and when the counting down begins, she realizes she has no one to kiss while her ex is all set. Suddenly as the counting down gets to two... one... a boy rushes through the crowd and kisses her. I think he was a friend of hers and they end up together in the end of the movie. Does this seen sound familiar at all to anyone? Let me know :)

I was really blown away the first time I saw this movie. Each additional viewing just drives home why this movie is such a work of art. When i've shown it to friends though, they usually don't like it. So I want to know if it impressed you. Why or why not??

It appeared that the dust made people vanish. Only a couple of people left. Included a person in a radio station. It was real end of he world stuff. Ends with the heroine meeting a guy in a sports car at a shopping mall.
From memory appears that anyone who slept under a tin or metal roof was OK. I just can't remember its name.
I know its not Triffids and its not Damnation Alley

We know that our greatest actors had to get there start some how at some point. Some got more appealing or more glamorous starter roles than others did, fortunately. Many of the biggest names in Hollywood got their start in a B or low-budget film that was only a notch ahead of a local restaurant gig to make-ends-meet.That was no sin. Some of those movies must be a distant memory and topics for laughter at many a dinner party these days. There was foot-in-the-door starter roles for now-famous actors that were not so bad even though the initial movies they starred in were weird, silly and/or a failure at the Box Office. One of my favorite stars George Clooney in"Return Of The Killer Tomatoes"(1989),in which he was funny, cool and displayed star potential even then. His equally funny co-star Anthony Starke seemed to vanish from radar except for a TV series"The Magnificent Seven"(1999). Jennifer Aniston started with"Leprechaun"(1993),in which she was zany, ditzy and cute!Name your favorite and why?
