Alright,we all know that acting is art, which is based on creative, instinctive actions and reactions employed to convince or trick us on a self-embarked fantasy level or plain.People who can't handle horror movies are only too overly convinced mostly my means of extra pints of catsup or red sauce(although they know this is never real blood nonetheless).Anyway, have you had the pleasure of watching a movie in which an actor does a stage performance,be it song, dance, tap, that is over-the-top(at least to you)and is clearly the starring actor without a stand-in,voice-over,computer imposed(graphics)or other smoke&mirrors, that you thoroughly enjoyed? These are very rare treats that always impress and fascinate me when it happens. My favorite actor stage performance for a movie was Thandie Newton playing a Jazz Singer in"Gridlock'd"(1997)She did a supporting role in the film as a mostly strung-out junkie, but once she got on stage to perform a Jazz song,it was magic!Name your favorite and say why.

"The Never Ending story is an 80's movie about a kid who borrows this book and it ends up turning into some sort of reality. The kid (Bastion) is asked to give the young Empress of Fantasia a new name to save her life. Bastion yells the name out of a window in the school attic during a thunderstorm. I've played the scene over and over but I can't make out what he says. Any help would be appreciated

It's set in past spain where there is a revolt or something like that happening. A Male american teenager goes over to spain or somewhere near it I think and meets a set of twins. One boy and one girl. He has romance with both of them. It was on the IFC channel one night and I forgot the name of it. It's in spanish some parts i think. If you don't like this kind of movie don' t comment about how it's wrong ok.

What movies (circa 80's) had Devo songs as their opening song? I can only think of two right now - Dr. Detroit (Dr. Detroit) and Thrashin' (That's Good). Any others?

Example- Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman had a major meltdown in "Batman Returns." Any others that were cool to watch go off the deep end and freak out like crazy?

Seems most recent (roughly last 10-15 years) horror films aren't as scary anymore.

Plenty of *gore*, yes. Actually *scary*, suspenseful & creepy- Not as much. Gore is easy. Any writer or director can do bloody.

I think a few things need to change:

-Stop using well known faces in them. When we see someone like Halle Berry or J-Lo up there pretending to be frightened, we tend to think- "Hey. it's Halle Berry!" Not someone we might know.

-Get Hollywood out of the picture. I think truly scary horror would be better coming from indie film makers. If it's too big budget, it'll be chockful of bad CGI & larger than life special FX. All boils down to unbelievable.

These are among the reasons why I thought the Blair Witch Project was pretty damn original.

Also, enough zombie flicks. We get it. The only recent ones that had a great, original spin on the old zombie thing was '28 Days' & the sequel. (Remake of Dawn of the dead wasn't bad either)
(running outta room)

Your thoughts?

When I was younger, my cousin was watching a movie on tv with his friends. But when I came in, since he thought it would scare me, he turned it off. In the movie I remember a bunch of guys standing on some railroad tracks at night by the side of cliff. They had like a newbie in their group and they gave each other maggots. Which they ate. Then when this train came, right before it hit them, they jumped off the cliff. I think I saw they had fangs. Though I'm not sure. Anyone know the name of this movie?
