Camera was real, the special effects make-up and treatment on the actress, Alyson Hannigan, were real.

She wore a "fat suit" and make up similiar to Eddie Murphy in "The Nutty Professor" and Martin Lawrence in "Big Mama" and "Big Mama 2".

Do you mean when she went from fat to thin? They photographed her in and out of her fat suit, photoshopped it and viola.
