"The Never Ending story is an 80's movie about a kid who borrows this book and it ends up turning into some sort of reality. The kid (Bastion) is asked to give the young Empress of Fantasia a new name to save her life. Bastion yells the name out of a window in the school attic during a thunderstorm. I've played the scene over and over but I can't make out what he says. Any help would be appreciated

This question has been asked many times. It's a good one though. The name that Bastion gave to the Childlike Empress in the end was Moonchild (his Dead Mother's name).
"Moonchild" is actually the English translation of the name that appears "Die Unendliche Geschichte." It's "Moonchild" in the book in English.
Here is the script of that scene:
EXT. VIEW-
the courtyard is being taken away by the Nothing. Because of Bastians newfound disbelief the Nothing has grown stronger and is now attacking the last remaining part of Fantasia.
Childlike Empress: Bastian, why don't you do what you dream, Bastian ?
Bastian: But I can't ! I have to keep my feet on the ground!
Childlike Empress: Call my name ! Bastian, please ! Save us!
Bastian: All right, I'll do it. I'll save you. I will do what I dream!
He climbs up to the window and opens it. He leans out into the storm and calls out the name he had chosen for her.
Bastian: MOONCHILD!

This is has bugged me since seeing this movie back in 1984. After reading here that his mother's name was Moonchild, I watched the movie and sure enough, he yelled Moonchild.

That has annoyed the CRAP out of me for years!!!!! To tell the truth I don't think you are Supposed to know, because it is not in the book either, that I bought and just to find out her stupid name!

On www.imdb.com, the character is listed as "the childlike empress". I don't think you are meant to know her name.

To me, it sounds like Moriah Hope. The closed caption shows nothing. I wonder if it says her name in the second movie? I shall watch that next.
