I am a music eacher in a predominantly African American Coummunity.
I have been teaching the recorder to my current fourth graders for two years and I have a book in my collection called Nice N' Easy. The songs are not too hard and the kids can play along with a cd. Okay no big deal right? Wrong, I guess. Here is the song list:

So I get to the song "Jungle Babies", and have been teaching to all my fourth grade, with no problem, except today, my principal pulls me aside and tells me to pull the song, that a teacher complained it was offensive. I am very embarassed as I was unaware if this as being negative to anyone.

I watched it back in school in my psychology class. All I remember is that it was a much older movie (1960?) and very long. The government banned books and it was just a weird movie. I want to say the title was somethin "Red 17" something like that... I think I maybe way off though... Thanks everyone for your help, I have been thinking about this for a long time now.

My music teacher requires for my class to sing a song. I need a song thats easy to memorize, and doesn't go too high. My voice...let's just say it isn't the easiest thing to listen to. For some reason, when I sing, I hear myself as a good singer, but when I tape record myself singing, I sound terrible.

I believe the guys name was like Mina or something. His song is played on the MTV hits channel. The song starts off with him playing the piano and a little girl on the piano/next to it is mouthing the words, "...Mr. Smith, last time we did you reduced me to tears..."
The guys is in a band he is skinny with long brown hair. Thanks in advance.
