Has anybody built a miniature set/landsape to film before? Do they have any advice on what materials to use?

I need to create a canyon - not lush, not desert - kinda inbetween.
I also need to find the materials to create buildings that look futuristic.

I heard that the movie 'Childs Play' was banned due to the Jamie Buldger incident a long time ago. I watched it in Japan and it doesn't even have an 18 rating there. Was it actually banned though or am I just dreaming it?

I don't like Mickey Mouse anymore because I hate the "new" voice. I know the person who did it before died but couldn't they have come up with someone more like the old voice? Walt has to be rolling over in his grave. I can't watch Mickey now. It's depressing!
